Course description and Learning Goals

Interplay between information systems and organizations. Focus on the importance of IS as a means for information sharing and coordination, and as an enabler for new organizational forms in the context of the network economy. Theories with regard to adoption, acceptance and management of IS in organizations; theories and models for the value of IS in organizations and the role of IS in innovation.


Main topics

This course will have two main parts, the first one designed to expose students to the relevant topics and literature. After an introduction to a topic and brainstorming, students will have to read, analyse and present research papers from that area. In the second part, students will have to develop their own research project in the field. They need to write the literature review, theory and methodology part of a paper and present in class. The main topics to be adressed in class:

  1. Organization of the IS/IT Function and IT Governance

  2. IS/IT Business Value and Decisions

  3. IS Development

  4. Adoption and Acceptance of IS/IT

  5. Specialised IS: ERP and DSS

  6. IS and Innovative Processes in and around the Organization
